HeyTea’s Bangkok Lab: Inside the Worldwide Debut of TeaAir
On September 25, 2026, HeyTea opened its first store in Thailand—and chose Bangkok for something bigger than a market entry. The CentralWorld flagship is a Heytea lab, the brand’s experimental store format, and it hosted the worldwide debut of TeaAir, an entirely new “tea cloud” topping. Here is what launched, what it tastes like on paper, and why Bangkok got the global premiere.
Key takeaway: HeyTea’s first Thailand store—a HeyTea lab at CentralWorld Bangkok—hosted the worldwide debut of TeaAir, a new tea-based cloud topping. The launch drew 500+ queuing customers and introduced Thailand-exclusive items across tea, bake, and gelato labs.
What opened on September 25
The store sits on Floor 1 of CentralWorld in the Ratchaprasong district and combines three concepts — a tea lab, a bake lab, and a gelato lab — behind open counters. It is Southeast Asia’s first Heytea lab and only the third outside mainland China, after New York’s Times Square and Toronto’s Eaton Centre (Retail Asia, ThaiPR).
Demand was immediate: ThaiPR reported 500+ customers waiting before opening, a queue over 300 meters long, and ordering waits above three hours in heavy rain.
What “Heytea Lab” actually means
The lab is HeyTea’s innovation platform, first launched in 2016, where new product categories and store experiences are tested before wider rollout. The format adapts to each market: the Bangkok edition is designed around Thailand’s floating markets, with a wooden boat-inspired facade and riverbank-style seating.
HeyTea’s vice president of communications and public relations, Cheng Hao, framed the choice of Bangkok this way: “The HeyTea lab is designed for markets where consumers are not simply following trends but actively shaping them.”
TeaAir: the tea-cloud topping that debuted in Bangkok
TeaAir is HeyTea’s new “tea cloud” concept. Where the classic cheese-tea cap is built on cream cheese and milk, teaAir is built on brewed tea itself, balanced with coconut, milk fat, and air into a light, fluffy topping. It is the first time tea forms the foundation of one of HeyTea’s cloud toppings.
The debut creation, teaAir · Rock Oolong Jackfruit (195 THB), pairs rock oolong tea with fresh jackfruit, papaya, and coconut—a direct nod to Thailand’s tropical fruit heritage. A milky version is also available at the same price.

Why Bangkok got the global debut
Three factors line up. First, scale of attention: Bangkok ranked 8th on Time Out’s 2026 list of the world’s best cities, with a young consumer base that actively shapes trends rather than following them. Second, existing demand: Thai travelers were already visiting HeyTea in Shanghai, Singapore, New York, and Los Angeles and posting about it on Pantip and travel platforms—and a 2025 social media post by Thai artist Lisa had already driven sell-outs of HeyTea’s matcha line across markets. Third, strategy: HeyTea seeded Thailand with three RTD fruit-tea variants at 7-Elevens before the store opened and has positioned Bangkok as its Southeast Asian hub for further regional expansion.
For tea watchers, the signal is clear: Bangkok is now part of HeyTea’s global innovation pipeline, and teaAir is the first concept to prove it.
